Starting 2024 with a BANG!

I have always been a huge fan of resolutions. I love challenging myself and setting goals in hopes of achieving them and the life that comes with instilling the changes. I am starting the year with a challenge my mindset coach introduced me to, that has created major shifts in my life. It is a good foundation to start any year off on the right foot.

This challenge is referred to as the Iron Mind 60 Day Challenge.

As you can probably gather from the name, it has a duration of 60 days. Throughout the 60 days I am to complete six pillars a day without fault. The six pillars include 1. 30 min of activity (HIIT, Running, Strength Training, Yoga, etc) 2. No Alcohol 3. A Diet of your choice 4. Journal 5. Meditate/Visualize 6. Cold Showers.

In my experience, whenever I share what the six pillars are, everyone is open to participating until they hear “cold showers.” I don’t know of anyone who truly enjoys cold showers, sure the feeling after and the health benefits will pull people to do the act, but I don’t think anyone truly enjoys being in cold water. That pillar is the most challenging for me, which tells me it will change my life the most when accomplishing them daily.

Cold showers again have so many health benefits, i.e. strengthens your immune system, increases circulation, reduces pain, anxiety, depression and stress, helps you sleep and increases your metabolism to name a few. The biggest reason I stick to cold showers as a pillar in this challenge is because it helps me practice quieting that voice inside my head that keeps me in my comfort zone. You know the one, the one that tells you to hit that snooze button or the one that tells you not to go workout. We all have it.

The more I quiet that voice in my head, the better chance I have at accomplishing all my goals, in life and in business. My higher self is the voice I want to be listening to, not the one holding me back from everything great to “keep me safe.”

Life is better when I start the year proactively.

As I chase after my highest potential you all are welcome to join this journey with me! Find yourself an accountability partner, someone who holds you to a high standard. Be disciplined during this challenge, no one will know if you didn’t do a pillar for that day or half-assed one, except for you.

Will you help propel yourself forward or will that voice in your head continue holding you back from the best version of yourself? If temptation grabs hold of you and you miss a day completing these pillars the 60 days starts over. Consistency is key and I have heard mixed studies on how long it takes to develop a habit, anywhere from 21-100 days. Your brain will literally change if you stay consistent.
